President of the Kuwaiti Federation from Basra: We are going to make the Gulf 25 successful

The President of the Kuwait Football Association, Abdullah Shaheen, arrived today, Thursday, in the city of Basra, to follow up on the final preparations to host the 25th Gulf Championship, which is expected to start on January 6 next.

Shaheen received a warm welcome from the Iraqi Federation and officials in Basra Governorate.

Accompanied by Adnan Darjal, President of the Kuwaiti Federation, Shaheen visited Basra Sports City and its main stadium, “The Trunk of the Palm”, which will host the largest part of the Gulf championship matches, along with the Olympic Port Stadium.

The head of the Kuwaiti Football Association, Abdullah Al-Shaheen, said in statements reported by the Iraqi Federation website: “Here we are, days away from the tournament engraved in our hearts before our

minds, and in our homes before our councils.”

And he continued: “The Gulf Championship, which nursed us the milk of development and progress in all its aspects… We will all walk for it during days in solidarity and united. We will march to the Gulf 25 in Basra, which calls us (brothers… dear… you have a home… not for the people of the home).”

He added, “We are all going and carrying a banner: “Basra is like a bright sun that is not disturbed by any cloud.”

And Shaheen continued: “It is unacceptable to prejudice our beloved Gulf Championship. We are going to

contribute to the success of this family forum, because we are certain that one hand will not clap.”

And he added, “As for Al-Azraq, longing and nostalgia strongly attract him to participate in order to support his favorite football field … and support the brothers to make his lover successful.”

He concluded: “As for what remains, it is up to the technical staff and the youth of the team.. They are really young, and our confidence in them is great, and God grant them success.”

It is noteworthy that the Kuwaiti national team will be the first to arrive in Basra on the 29th of this month, in preparation for a friendly match against Iraq at the opening of the Olympic Port Stadium.
